Hi Everyone! I'm new to TGM and this site. I received my Alignment Golf DVD on Friday and couldn't wait to view it. A little background...I had a 6.2 handicap at one time. I was playing quite a bit and I guess I could control my flip because of that. I still received comments about my high ball flight though. The fact that I was flipping never occured to me.I just thought I hit the ball higher and softer than my playing partners.
I've taken three year off from golf for various reasons, job changes, etc. Now I want my game back and thought the DVD might be a great starting point especially after hitting the range a couple of times and just embarrassing myself.
So today after watching the tapes I went out and hit it very, very, well. Almost all my shots were straight or with a sweet little draw. I hit the occasional hook but even those felt pure. However, I still hit a bunch of shots fat. I mean chunked 'em. Is that from hitting down too sharply or flipping. I assume others have had this problem when changing their swing to TGM. Any suggested drills?
THANKS!!!!

OK, so let's take this in an orderly fashion.
Did you hit fat shots during Basic Motion, Acquired Motion, or Total Motion shots?
Give us details and we can get clearer ideas.
BTW, what drills caught your fancy?
What do you feel are your weaknesses when you hit shots fat? Or, in general?
How many chips did you do today?
Do you have access to a camera? I'm not trying to discourage you Dawg, as a matter of fact, we are all rooting for you to succeed. We just need you to pick an unraveling thread and will help you start mending!
What is your game like when it is going well? Tell us about your skills!

Could be from flipping. Could also be from your weight distribution. You really have got to be left at impact...
Hula-Hula
MacDonald Drills
Trolio Hips
Watch video and look at pics of Yoda's swing. He ALWAYS has some pressure on that left foot. Watch Yoda teaching with dowels, ALWAYS has pressure on that left foot. Tour players, always (almost) centered at the top and a lot of Hula-Hula on the downstroke, always moving towards the target with their lower body. I'm convinced the secret to great ball striking lies in this pressure.

Answer to the first question: Yes on all three, but especially when I was thinking less about throwing my left arm off my chest and began to think more about directing my hands at the ball.
Number two: I hadn't watched the drill tape at the time, but I have now and see some very intriguing possibilities.
Number three:Weakness when I hit fat shots is probably too much body movement (my guess). I've always had an issue with slinding my hips and loosing my spine angle.
Number four: I've been working on my chipping at home and into a net. I hate to spend $15 for a bucket of balls to only hit chips. I know that's not the right attitude, but I still probably hit 20-25 chips to begin with. Some thin and some fat.
Number five: Yes I have access to a video camera.
Number six: Again when I was playing a lot I had a six+ handicap and never understood I was flipping the club head. I should have realized I was, since I got comments all the time about how high my ball flight was. I was very good from a hundred yards in, but my putting became a disaster after I reached 50. I got a terrible case of the YIPS. It was absolutely terrible and one reason I decided to take a few years off. I've missed the game terribly and have gone left hand low. That along with hopefully loosing that part of my muscle memory seems to have taken care of it. I HOPE!!
Again, thanks for the encouragement and the response.
