tornado damage

Our neighborhood was hit last night by a tornado. We weren't hurt and weren't at home at the time, thus the placing of this post in Hole-ies and Pole-ies. Our house suffered very little damage compared to many of our neighbors.

Here's a link to a video of some of the damage:

Too Close for Comfort

Ted,

I'm so thankful no one in your family was hurt. That was WAY to close for comfort. Sounds like everyone was in a safe place at the time. That would be a terrifying experience to be so close to a Twister.

Guessing your insurance should be able to cover - new roof, gutters, siding, windows and screens, tree removal, and paint.

I had similar hail damage to my place in Austin years ago and had those items redone.

The main thing is you and your family are OK and you still have your belongings. You must be living right!

I'll put your video up on the site today.

Glad to hear nobody was hurt and that you guys didn't have any major damage or losses. My wife and sister-in-law went through a major tornado here in Indiana several years ago, and my sister-in-law still comes over to our house to sleep during bad storms if she's home alone. It's amazing how powerful they are - trees broken like toothpicks and buildings reduced to rubble in a matter of minutes.

Again, very glad to hear nobody was hurt!

thanks

Thanks Bagger,

They finally opened one lane of the road that leads to our house. There were trees everywhere and downed lines. We just got the power back. The power people have been working non-stop for 21 hours to get it done. All we've been hearing is helicopters and chainsaws, since we woke up.

After seeing the damage, I was amazed no one was hurt. The warning sirens were sounding, so I guess everyone went to their basements.

Ted, you and your young family are so fortunate. Thank God no one was hurt.

The rest of it can be repaired. Hope your little son wasnt too scared.

Whilst these sentiments are laudable the wind has died down now and there is no longer any need for shouting.
