Ted Fort Finishes #2 in Georgia PGA Event Playoff
Congrats to Ted Fort and his partner Steve Ridge on their recent T-1 in the Georgia PGA Club Car Pro-Pro Scramble. Aided by Ted's eagle 3 on the par 5 tenth hole, the team was Ten-under-par for the round. Unfortunately for the good guys, they ultimately finished second, losing on the eighth hole of a sudden death playoff. As we say down south, they were "hard dogs to get off the porch". :laughing9

Arendt and Miller shot a ten-under par 62 to earn a spot in the playoff against PGA professional Steve Ridge of College Park Municipal Golf Course and PGA teaching professional Ted Fort from the Marietta Golf Center . The playoff went on for eight holes, and finally concluded when Arendt made a three-foot birdie putt on the first hole to give himself and Miller their first title in the Pro-Pro Scramble. Defending Champions PGA teaching professionals Chris Asbell from the Georgia Golf Center in Roswell and PGA teaching professional Jeff Hull from the University of Georgia Golf Course shot nine-under par 653 to finish in a tie for third place. The Georgia PGA is one of the 41 Sections of the PGA of America. Pro-Pro Scramble
We had a great time and both played well. Both teams were running out of gas since we started the round at 10:30 am and finished the playoff at 6:30 pm. Our box lunch was done by 12:30. :crybaby:
It's not easy to finish in front of Hull. It happens once every 13th leap year, during a harvest moon, if it snows 7 inches the week before the tournament and keeps Jeff from practicing. We were so hot in our first 7 holes it was tough to keep up the magic. We were 7 under after 7 holes, with one par on a 185 yard par 3 and an eagle on 10. Steve was hitting the ball well, so I had many green lights for bombs. The second hole is 435 yards with two sets of trees on the right. Steve hit a perfect drive down the middle, so I let it fly over the trees. We had 98 yards remaining. Our starting hole was 573 yards and Steve hit a perfect drive down the middle. One of our competitors said, "Fort, you can get in the cart" after Steve hit. I was a little offended, so I smashed it (about 40 yards past their best ball) and we had 245 yards remaining. They expected the old Fort. After that hole, they didn't say anything about me getting in the cart and riding. &C :rambo: |

It works for Mickelson
Phil Mickelson credits his great play of late to a short game instructional DVD he just made. He said in order to articulate what he does he had to simplify his technique. He says he's never chipped it better.

2 kids, 40th birthday, and less practice

My geometry is much better than it ever was. As a result, I can load it as hard as I can. My geometry was so bad for so long that direction was in question when I tried to heavy load it. I've done some limited practice with Speed Chains and Impact Bags, etc. I've tested my speed when using different drills, to find out which ones are paying off. |
