Worst polie ever ....

I hit a beatiful wedge today. Around 115 yards out. Smack in the flag stick and the ball disappeared from the surface. I was so sure it was in that I didn't even bring a club to the green.

But no ball in the hole. Not on the green either. A lost ball. I couldn't believe my eyes. Had to look into the cup three times. It wasn't there the second time I looked either.

I must have hit the flag stick straight on the top. And from there on into the water or nearby bushes.

Since a lot of golfers complain about their bad luck all the time and forget all the good breaks, I usually say that: "Golf consists of two elements: Good skills and bad luck." But I've never experienced it more true than on this occation.

But I enjoyed the shot though :eyes:

I thought there was an unwritten pole-ie rule - If it hits the stick and disappears, its an automatic one-putt.

By LBG definition . . .

Your shot definitely qualifies as "Hawkish", and whatever score you recorded is a "Hawk".

Several years ago Charles Howell in a televised tour event hit the stick with his iron shot and the ball bounced left into the pond! Talk about a momentum killer.
