Where are all the experts?

Where have all the experts gone?

I could speculate but why answer my own question?

It just seem that the participation of the true TGM expert has dwindled. Am I wrong?

Lesson "Tee Time"

For me personally...I check in each day. However, I know that I am way too busy on the lesson tee and the golf course to make long posts. Some of us have more time on our hands than others, especially at the peak of the golf season.

That was my first and most logical "speculation".

I HOPE that is the majority reason.

Thanks.

I am not an expert, but because of people on this site I have learned to hit the ball expertly.
The practical applications seem to come at us faster than we can assimilate them into our game.
Theory, not so much.

My 2 cents.

I think that to be an expert, one must be a teacher. Theory is good "Conversational Golf" but the "Book of Golf" has already been written. An expert can understand the Geometry and help you decide which techniques or variations to use and how to include the in your swing. An Experts job is to lower your score.

The experts are busy teaching.

On the other hand, for those taking the journey on their own, there is no website better than LBG for getting help understanding swing mechanics or getting good, solid advice.

Indeed Daryl,
I find the search function here to be a marvelous tool to find information on just about anything in the golf swing I might be interested in learning a little more about.

Those who have made the effort to learn and have made mistakes and breakthroughs can offer newbies like moi honest insight (candor). The fact that Lynn and his crew have gone to this wonderful effort of providing structure and recorded insights available in the "search" function is a form of grace and intelligence. And the good will expressed by so many experienced teachers makes their volunteering their time truly enjoyable, :)

It seems to me that a person who is given so much should try to give in the same spirit. I can offer my breakthroughs as humble thanks, and show other people the great achievements and insights of Yoda and his talented crew of "Plane Golfers."

Bear, I'm not taking a shot at you. Rest assured, I would be direct if that was my intention. I hope we might meet someday on a golf course and be able to converse amiably about the great interests we have in golf. I think we can learn to play nicely with each other in the most enlightened sense.:golf:

My real fear is that my insights are wrong, sometimes, because my left leg is shorter, etc. so I want to make sure I am only speaking about my experiences which mirror the insights of others.:)

I'm with you! After 8-10 lessons a day, under the blazing hot sun, I'm ready for food and A/C.

One of my students mentioned a golf pro on YouTube that created a plethora of free videos. He thought that I should do the same thing. After explaining to him that I'd have to charge $750 an hour so that I could create some "free time", he changed his tune.

Where does anyone get the time to do 100 videos? Do they ever teach?

I just want you teachers and contributors to this site to know how much appreciate your efforts. I visit every day both for the new posts and to look at something from maybe 3 to 5 years ago.
Few golf sites have so much solid information and fellowship, eh?

Your observation is correct and noted, HB. Just know that the phenomenon is one of season, not apathy.

As for my personal participation, I will be posting this week from the Old Course Hotel and The Open Championship at St. Andrews. Judging from the weather this morning -- cold, wet and windy -- I may be more active than originally planned! Read those posts in The Majors Forum. Meanwhile, I do have some 8,000 posts in the archives that should give active minds plenty to digest.

For now, with due apologies to Pete Seeger and his folk classic, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone", please accept this ditty from the Home of Golf:

Where Have All the Experts Gone?

Where have all the EXPERTS gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the experts gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the experts gone?
Gone to students every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the STUDENTS gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the students gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the students gone?
They're now 'players' every one!
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the PLAYERS gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the players gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the players gone?
Lifting trophies every one!
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the TROPHIES gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the trophies gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the trophies gone?
Gone to students every one!
That's 'cause they have learned . . .
That's 'cause they have learned!
