Brian Gay is set to go at 1:10 p.m. in tomorrow's first round of the Verizon Heritage. As has been the case since its inception in 1969, this premier $5.4 million PGA TOUR event is being played on the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Unlike many of the TOUR's current venues, this is not a 'bombers' course. Instead, it plays to "only" 6,973 yards (but also to a par of 71) and places a premium on accuracy. That's right up Brian's alley: He finished #1 in Driving Accuracy last month at both the PODS Championship and at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Further proof of the pudding is his T9 finish last year on rounds of 66-67-73-70=276 and winnings of $148,400!
Brian Gay was out out in 33 in the first round of the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. A double bogey at 12 marred the fun, and a birdie at 13 was offset by a bogey at the last.
At the end, it was a wonderful round of 70, -1, for the day and a T20 in a stellar field of 130.
