Although I perform no professional instruction at Atlanta Country Club, I have been a member there since 1973. In the past couple of years, I have been privileged to teach a handful of members 'off site'.
I am pleased to announce that two of these students have just won the club's annual Most Improved Player honors. Congrats to Alex White, Most Improved / Men; and Katie Skeeles, Most Improved / Junior Girls.
[Let the record show that 'ol Yoda had no students eligible for the Ladies or Junior Boys categories!]
Alex and I began working together in 2007, and he has seen his handicap drop from 9 to 1. This year was special in that he won several prestigious club events, and also, broke 70 for the first time (shooting 69, 3-under-par, twice). Every game Alex plays is a money game, and needless to say, it's been a profitable ride down the handicap chart!
Katie and I began working in August of last year. In the 16 months since, her handicap has dropped from 24 to 7, the second-lowest female handicap at the club. She also won the 2008 award, which makes real the promise of "continual progress".
