Great video gentlemen. I learned a lot about teaching from it. Thank you both very much for sharing the experience. There was a swing either 7:08 or 7:28, I have a terrible memory, where I almost jumped off my chair. You could feel the compression!!! Great work AIR!!!

Thanks. Good to hear. I've always been a bit confused about this compression business.

You're doing such a good job of working on it in that video Air , you cant be too confused about it!

For more info on compression see Chapter 2 , the diagrams of 2-C and contrast Three Dimensional Impact ( with Horizontal Hinging) with the three forms of Steering. I suspect that like most people your earlier outside /inside stroke and associated compression loss was a reflection of one of golf's common "seems as if's" ......(it should work but it doesnt) ....Steering namely.

The linear logic of the pool shot with its inline pool cue does not translate to golf given the golf club's: lie angle (Inclined Plane of motion) , hooked face (Hinge Action) and its resulting circular (Angular) Motion. Golf as Homer noted being a 'Hinge Action of an Angular Motion on an Inclined Plane". In fact the more linear you get it ........the more you produce what Homer termed "the cut shot" see diagram 2-C something or other (sorry dont have my book with me). Then compare that diagram to Steering again.

I'll have to study this some more. The involuntary cut shot was earlier something I produced all the time - except when I pulled it instead.

Indeed and the corollary is true as well. If you watch the Premium video with Brian Gay you'll see him Starting Up from Fix , with Address Hands while Lynn notes that there can still be a little Lag and Drag to the Startup. A little bit of a Lagging Takeaway from Fix, not pure Carry Back motion.

Like in all things Homer, there are many shades of grey. You've got options if you dont like Black or White.
