I am ok with my backswing. My problem is on the downswing I am constantly hitting behind the ball. Any help is APPRECIATED
Head to Lowes or HomeDepot . . . get you a piece of plexiglass about 1/4 inch thick . . . you can cut it down to about the size of a book . . . stick it a couple of inches behind the ball start with it about 6 inches or so behind it. . . try to miss the plexiglass . . . you can start by not even having a ball there . . . just make practice swings . . . hit the ground and miss the glass . . . then introduce the ball. As you get better inche the glass closer to the ball.
If you got a video camera . . .film your swing and stick it up . . . could be a lot of cluprits mechanically . . . "hanging back" . . . right shoulder working too vertical . . . losing the right wrist bend . . . flipping . . . weight not left enough . . who knows . . . but the board will MAKE you do it . . . but ultimately you need to address the root cause.
Get a dowel or clubshaft and go to the top of your backswing . . . take the dowel/shaft in your left hand and stick it on your right shoulder vertical to the ground and make you right shoulder "mimick" that trajectory . . . note how that would shift your low point backwards . . . now put the shaft/dowel on an "incline" like a roof . . . note how your shoulder has to move down AND OUT . . . if your shoulder just works vertical it screws up your low point . . . if it works down OUT AND FORWARD you don't compromise low point . . so the shoulder has to work OUT TO THE BALL as well as down.
Note how much more forward Hogan's right shoulder is . . .
See how the shoulder works down and OUT TO THE BALL . .
