For that, the English will be forever grateful: even if expressing gratitude to a Scot sticks in the throat and prevents the swallowing of cheese and sour grapes.

Typical of us to be in the same group as France and Italy during the qualifying stages...but also typical of us we managed to snap defeat from the jaws of victory (we were on top of the table with 2 games to go)....if only we managed to get a point or two from the earlier games rather than going out and trying to beat Italy in our final home game.
