Thanks YODA, I'm loving your site. The information and FREE videos are amazing. I'll be picking up ALIGNMENT GOLF as soon as I can aford it (grad. school is expensive ).

Kevin, you are too kind. I'm just starting this journey and barely know enough to keep up with the simple stuff. By the way, after much confusion/consideration I have decided I am a swinger after all. Hope we can still be friends

For me it's all in the release in total motion. Working in basic and aquired motion using a hitting feel I've noticed this was similar to what I did in high school/ college for less than full wedges and around the green. Amazing what you stumble upon when you practice a lot but then forget because you don't really know what you are doing

Sorry for the threadjack. There are so many things I could add to this topic.....I had every golf digest and golf magazine from about 1989-2001.

I think the combo of "swing left" and "take the hands out of the swing/use the big muscles" pretty much ruined my swing. Led to some serious steering and a big up and out of it move for me. Most of these "catch phrases" may be a way of stating what some feel, but misapplied can mess people up. A precision system it aint!

Precision would be swing on your selected plane!

It makes me happy to see Mr. Tillery and I share a lot of similar ideas...

It seems like you refer to second hand advice rather than a true & knowledgeable source.

If you go to the right sources you will find this as part of a very thought through system. After all this is pretty much what Ben Hogan did and a lot of the greats of the past and present.

But the "take the hands out of the swing" thing will mean something entirely different, like: Maintain leverage through impact and get as far away from a flip as possible.

Well, yes and no.

"Swing left" and "big muscle/take the hands out" are popular phrases in the magazines and the experts who write the articles. These were also right from the mouth of the last pro I took lessons with. He has taught some good players around here including Ben Curtis in high school.

The problem is that there isn't enough precision in these phrases so it's easy to get off track. Swing left of what? Or to what? How far left is TOO much? It is a feel that didn't work for me. I wasn't tracing the plane line and it disrupted my finish swivel.

The hands have specific things to do in the swing. Instead of saying "take the hands out of the swing", I have found that it is MUCH more effective for me to think about what the hands should do. More precision in, more precision out.
